ROY KEANE is tipping Dwight Yorke to follow him into management.
Midfielder Yorke is in the final year of his two-year deal on Wearside and with just six weeks to go before his 36th birthday, it is unclear whether he will be offered an extension.
Sunderland boss Keane was giving nothing away this week, but he did hint that Yorke, a player with a notorious playboy reputation, could go on to become a manager himself.
He said: “Yorke has done very, very well for us and he has been a big plus.
“People shouldn’t underestimate how well he has done since he came to the club.
“Maybe Dwight is a potential manager himself, somewhere along the line.
“There are one or two players we are looking at (with regard to new contracts). We are monitoring the contract situation regularly, but I am not going to give out new contracts willy-nilly.”
Yorke and Keane were former team-mates at Manchester United for four years in the late 1990s and early 2000s.
Yorke arrived at Sunderland from Sydney FC for £200,000 in August last year, just days after Keane took over at the Stadium of Light.
