I was lucky enough to enjoy Newcastle last August. Beautiful city, nice people, good beer. Will visit again. Next time would like to get to see a football game.

keith from the one and only Newcastle 20:31:13 26 September 2005
has to be flying over the river tyne, st james' park and the gallowgate end every match day. Also this city has so much to offer everyone

sheila bell from new jersey, usa 20:24:35 23 September 2005
How about including STING on your list? Surely the greatest artist from Newcastle.

Paul S from London outskirts 18:07:02 12 September 2005
I hope deep down that Newcastle will bring me the warmth lacking in London and its outskirts.

Rachel from New York 04:48:48 04 September 2005
Great people, lovely sights and awesome bars.

Alan Myers from Hitchin, Herts 00:00:05 31 August 2005
Among the great engineers, could we have 'the Stephensons' (i.e. George and Robert) rather than just 'Stephenson'?

Tess 23:49:18 30 August 2005
I left the north a few years ago, but it has stayed with me. It is a wonderful place to live, and filled with truly wonderful people.

Rob from Gateshead 14:35:04 30 August 2005
The North, The North such a place to be, never a dull moment in this place for me. Lots of lovely places full of people with happy smiling faces, makes up North the place to be.

Stuart from Jacksonville, Florida, USA 14:25:21 27 August 2005
I stumbled on to your site while searching for angling news stories. After only a few of the 100 reasons, I realized how wonderul it would be to live in Newcastle... and how devoid of art, culture, and scenery my city is. I truly envy you all!

Greg from France but former student at Northumbria university 12:54:38 23 August 2005
Because Newcastle has the best fans in the world. Because the landscapes surrounding the city are beautiful. Because Northumbria Uni is the best in the world, because people are the most friendly on earth and because it's the best place to have fun. Thank you Newcastle for being such a great place (my favorite on earth).

Halo from Newcastle Upon Tyne 16:15:38 08 August 2005
Spring: seeing the lil lambs everywhere. Summer: Sitting on the Quayside with a cold drink. Autumn: kicking through leaves at Jesmond Dene. Winter: watching the stormy waves at St. Mary's Lighthouse.

Sarah from Fethiye, Turkey 10:39:21 03 August 2005

The North East is and had been the Hot-bed for much of British Ice Hockey players for many years.Durham and Whitley Bar majorly contributed to hockey past and present.

John Winter from Newcastle 23:18:34 05 July 2005
My Dad was a Geordie, but moved south before I was born. Apart from a short spell here as a teenager I lived in the south for most of the first 60 years of my life but always felt a powerful pull to come back here. I finally did so in 1997 and I've never been happier. I love this city, and (almost) everything about it. I can speak with real authority - Newcastle is far superior to any southern town - especially London!

Edith A Ward from Bingara NSW Australia 04:35:19 02 July 2005
What happy memories flooded in when I read the list. How glad I am to be able to keep in touch with the North via the internet while living so far away.

Audrey from Wallsend 11:36:33 30 June 2005

Eileen from Gateshead 18:52:35 29 June 2005
The view and feeling of being home when you cross the Tyne on the train coming back from the south.

ILuvNUFC from Newcastle 11:20:44 27 June 2005
Jesmond Dene, Armstrong Park and Heaton Park. Just beautiful.

L Balson 21:39:05 26 June 2005
You always know you're home when you here the familiar cry of 'alreet lass!' and you see the most beautiful sight in the world, the quayside by night.

caroline from nottingham, UK 14:55:39 25 June 2005
