Jose Enrique confident of seeing off Reading

JOSE ENRIQUE has revealed Newcastle United are “confident” of seeing off fellow promotion chasers Reading at St James’s Park on Saturday night. The Spaniard helped Newcastle to a 1-1 draw against West Brom and out of the Magpies’ big earners the former La Liga star could well remain on Tyneside this season as the only experienced left-back at the club. Enrique has been tracked by a clutch of La Liga sides this summer, but United will make the sales of Jonas Gutierrez, Fabricio Coloccini and The Bull’s Spanish counterpart Xisco as the main priorities this transfer window, with the trio raking in almost £200,000 per week between them. However, Enrique is fully focused on picking up points in a black and white shirt when the Mags take on the Royals in the season’s curtain raiser at Gallowgate. Story continues ADVERTISEMENT He told the Chronicle today: “We’re feeling confident for the Reading game. “West Brom were another team that are fighting to get back in the Premier League and the draw was a good result in my eyes. “It was important to show people watching on TV that we are ready for this challenge. “And we’ll be hoping to continue that against Reading, I think we can continue our good start and win it.”
