CHRIS HUGHTON faces a brave decision ahead of Newcastle United’s clash with West Brom, with both Shola Ameobi and Andy Carroll expecting to start the clash at The Hawthorns.
The Academy products have both shone in pre-season, but Hughton is leaning towards fielding Kevin Nolan alongside Ameobi as an advanced midfielder – meaning Carroll could miss out.
Danny Guthrie is out with a hamstring injury, while Habib Beye is out of the picture due to his transfer talks with Hull City.
However, it is the frontline which has the biggest question mark hanging over it, with Michael Owen, Mark Viduka and Obafemi Martins all long departed – leaving United with little in the way of attacking impetus.
