Danny Simpson hails NUFC boss Chris Hughton

NEWCASTLE UNITED star Danny Simpson believes that the Magpies will not be all at sea when they head to Blackpool tomorrow night – after Chris Hughton left "no stone unturned" in the build-up to the game with the Seasiders.

Tangerines boss Ian Holloway is plotting another impressive victory at Bloomfield Road after his side walloped Wigan in the Carling Cup and then outclassed Coventry City in a 3-0 Coca-Cola Championship win in their last home match.

However, Simpson – who still boasts a 100% record in a United shirt after enjoying five consecutive wins to start his Toon career – feels that Hughton’s research skills have been a major factor this season in Newcastle’s flying start.

And with Newcastle alien to second-tier football for 16 years, Simpson feels this has been vital to the club. He told the Chronicle: “Chris Hughton has left no stone unturned.

“Chris and Colin Calderwood have fed us all of the information we need about each player and what they will try to do to us.

“That’s what we have been doing all season.

“We’ve been taking the information on board and, coupled with the ability we have already, it has been enough to get some excellent results. Now we aim to keep it up at Blackpool.”

Holloway is renowned for getting every ounce of energy out of his players and Blackpool go into the game as the proverbial wounded animal.

But with Newcastle leading the way in the division, a confident Simpson said: “We won’t give up our place at the top without a fight.

“We knew going into Cardiff that the likes of West Brom and Middlesbrough have picked up wins.

“We had to come out and get the three points, and it’s the same for Blackpool.

“We’re not going let anybody beat us and we will not roll over for anybody.

“The only people who can beat us are ourselves.

“Every game we have our team meetings and we talk to each other – nothing is allowed to bubble away beneath the surface.

“We do not want teams to beat us, it is not a nice feeling.

“While we have the momentum we aim to keep it.”
