“They went to Ipswich and won. They will now be hoping to get something out of us. But we are buzzing and we will not let that happen.
“I have been around the lads and trained and it is like being at any other club. The lads have put it to one side, and I think it shows by the way we are playing.”
With United tipped to be taken off the market this weekend by sources in the city, Simpson says United players will continue to get on with their jobs.
He said: “We want to do it for ourselves. We cannot affect what happens upstairs.
“The lads are buzzing and we want to get out of this league.
“If I do well you never know what could happen in January.”
