MARLON HAREWOOD has insisted that Newcastle United are not the crisis club he thought they were before arriving on loan at St James’s Park.
Harewood will line up for United against Nottingham Forest – the club where he made his name – on Saturday night, and says he has no regrets about joining the black-and-whites.
The straight-talking Londoner, on loan from Aston Villa, could have been forgiven for turning down a loan stint on Tyneside given the sheer volume of negativity spewing out of Gallowgate in the last 12 months.
However, Harewood’s long, drawn-out move to the Magpies was eventually sealed after talks with caretaker boss Chris Hughton, who assured him everything behind the scenes from the playing and coaching perspective was first class.
And giving an insight into life in the dressing-room, Harewood told the Chronicle: “I haven’t seen anything bad here, just a really good set of professionals.
“They went down and they were upset about it, but I haven’t seen any evidence of last season.
“They have a job to do now and that is to get back in the Premier League – that’s all I have seen.”
