Jonas suffered his own injury problems earlier in the season when he was dogged by a hamstring issue, and feels that United’s paper-thin squad has been pushed to the limit this season.
He said: “It’s a problem we have had. Colo, Tayls, Danny Simpson, Joey Barton, Shola and me – we’ve had a lot of injured players, and we don’t have a big squad.
“That’s a real problem sometimes.
“Some players are coming again, so that is good for the team.
The Argentine winger also dismissed weekend speculation linking him with a move to Serie A giants Roma by revealing he is fully focused on helping to take Newcastle back to the Premier League this term.
And with United knowing that nothing but victory will hand them back the Coca-Cola Championship leadership at Bramall Lane, Jonas was in confident mood today.
