Harper, though, is keen to avoid a return to domestic action after an international break like the October breather when Nottingham Forest pulled off a 1-0 win, quickly followed by the season’s low point at Scunthorpe.
Harper said: “We broke the season down into segments around the international breaks.
“And after the last period, we started badly with a little blip which included a couple of poor results.
“But we’ve bounced back to finish with three wins and everybody has a good feeling.
“We are back in there and we’ve got our noses in front.
“We’ll enjoy the break and it will give us more time to get Shola and Joey (Barton) near to full fitness and it’s great to be top of the league.”
