There is no doubting which company has been the winner in the scrappage scheme, and that's Hyundai.
The Korean company has just beaten their best ever annual sales total and in September they sold more cars in a single month than ever before. They sold 11,031 cars in September, up
rom 4,970 in the same month last year.
Tony Whitehorn, Hyundai's managing director, said: "We could have sold twice as many in September, but we ran out of cars and time.
There are more arriving now, all full of our most popular models, and we are rushing them out to customers as fast as we can!"
Hyundai has timed things perfectly, launching new models at a competitive price and when discounts are available.
However, all of those new car buyers cannot have plumped for a Hyundai on price alone because there are cheaper cars available.
They have also chosen them due to ever-improving standards of build, driving enjoyment and reliability.
Hyundai has also got confidence in their products. Take the i30 small family car for example.
It comes with an unlimited mileage five-year warranty. Bearing in mind the sort of mileages that some people can rack-up, that is an impressive boast.
Useful deals are available too. Take the Hyundai i30 Comfort 1.4 (manual hatchback in solid paint) if you add the Government £1,000 scrappage allowance to Hyundai's £2,605 contribution, you can drive off for £7,995, which is a cracking deal for a lot of metal.
The i10 is available with scrappage allowance and Hyundai's contribution for just £4,995. The i20 starts at £6,295 under the same conditions. There's also a hugely tempting offer if you fancy a good-looking coupe.
Hyundai UK has secured the last Hyundai Coupes to come off the production line in Korea and is offering these cars with a massive £5,035 discount.
That knocks it down to just £11,995 with scrappage. By coupe standards, that is an absolute steal.
And do not forget that Hyundai also offers an extremely capable pair of 4x4 vehicles; the Tucson and Santa Fe.
The Tucson starts at £11,030 and the Santa Fe, available with five or seven seats, at £16,250.
