Focus on the best discounts FORD has taken more than 3,000 extra orders from first-time buyers in the new car market, thanks to the Government's vehicle scrappage scheme.
Motorists are attracted by Ford's supplementary offers which have reduced the price of the Ford Fiesta top seller to £8,595.
The Ford Focus, which was the UK's most popular new car last month, becomes £12,645 to buyers replacing vehicles first registered before September 1999.
Scrappage scheme incentives bring the new Ford Ka within a £6,600 budget, while the Ford Fusion starts at £10,995. The Ford Mondeo becomes available for about £16,000.
Other scrappage savings are on offer across Ford's car and commercial vehicle range including a seven-seat Ford Galaxy MPV for under £21,000 and a minimum £2,000 discount on Ford's Fiesta van, Transit Connect and Transit models.
Nigel Sharp, Ford Britain managing director, says: "Ford is putting its full weight behind the UK vehicle scrappage scheme, which will not only boost sales but will also bring positive employment and environmental benefits too.
Ford's substantial backing of subsidised vehicle scrapping helps to secure the 100,000 auto industry jobs in the UK dependent upon our company, dealerships and suppliers."
Ford has boosted the potential of the scrappage scheme with the addition of supplementary discounts on all its larger cars, which together represent savings of up to £4,500 on a new Ford Mondeo.
As the UK's top selling vehicle brand for the last 32 years, Ford is already the favourite choice for new vehicle buyers, and this new Government scheme is set to increase the popularity of Ford's latest models, the Ka and Fiesta.
For customers who require larger vehicles, but who struggle to find the extra cash, the blue oval is announcing a range of incremental offers, called "Scrappage Plus".
These Scrappage Plus discounts will be available over and above the Government and industry's shared £2,000 subsidy. They start at an additional £1,250 for a Ford Fusion and extend to £3,000 for a Ford Galaxy.
Mr Sharp, added: "The scrappage scheme is great news for the consumer as it will help a sizeable group of motorists who otherwise could not afford it, to buy a more stylish, safer and greener new Ford.
"Ford is taking a leadership role in this scrappage scheme and we will be helping all our new customers through the process.
"We will even collect a non-running eligible old car free of charge."
Ford's latest low carbon cars are leading the industry at reducing CO2 levels according to environmental website Clean Green Cars.
Clean Green Cars analysed latest CO2 data for this year's new car sales in the UK and found that Ford was best at reducing CO2 output, which is directly linked to improved fuel economy.
This is thanks to Ford's newest fuel-efficient models, the Fiesta and Ka, which together increased their share of the new car market from January to March over the same 2008 period.
Ford Fiesta ECOnetic became the UK's greenest family car according to Clean Green Cars (www.cleangreencars.co.uk), with emissions of 98g/km, equivalent to 76mpg, exempting the car from road tax. The new Ford Ka range delivers a low CO2 output from 112g/km with economy of 67mpg.
