Toyota has announced that it is increasing the scrappage discount on its British-built Auris model by a third.
In addition to the £1,000 Government allowance and the company's own contribution of an additional £1,000 Toyota is discounting by a further £1,000 to make the total reduction a whopping £3,000.
This brings the price down from £12,900 to just £9,900, which is a reduction of almost a quarter.
In the case of the Yaris there is £500 off in addition to the £2,000 scrappage discount, bringing the total discount to £2,500 and the price down to just £6,805.
In the case of the Toyota RAV4 there is a further discount of £1,500 on top of the £2,000 scrappage reduction, giving a total reduction of £3,500 and prices from £16,125 for the RAV4 XT-R 2.0i VVTi while the Land Cruiser 3.0i Invincible attracts a discount of £3,000 on top of the £2,000 scrappage reduction, which with a total discount of £5,000 gives a new low price of £32,160.
Toyota managing director, Miguel Fonseca, says: "While Toyota has some of the best small cars on the market in the shape of the Aygo and Yaris we recognise that small cars do not meet the needs of everyone in terms of space and practicality.
"By leveraging the benefits of local production we can make the Auris affordable for customers who need a family car. I am also very keen to use this incentive as much as possible for the benefit of British workers."
Under the standard scrappage scheme an Aygo costs from just £5,280.
