
According to the scrappage scheme rules, the £2,000 subsidy only applies to cars that are aged 10 years or more.
Nissan, however, has come up with their own version which allows more potential buyers to get involved.
The Nissan trade-in scheme guarantees a £2,000 minimum trade-in against any British built Nissan for any car aged 8-10 years old.
Launched to coincide with the Government's original scrappage scheme in April, Nissan's trade-in offer has also been extended following the latest Government announcement to keep the scheme going.
New Nissans eligible for this special deal include any car built at Nissan's Sunderland plant, giving buyers the choice of any new Micra, Note, Qashqai or Qashqai+2.
As a result, anyone with an eight-year-old car can take delivery of the ultra-efficient Micra supermini for only £6,395.

Nissan's Wearside plant now produces more cars than any other UK manufacturer.
The Qashqai is one of the best. Anyone looking for a well-built, chunky SUV, with a commanding driving position and offering excellent family accommodation and sensible running costs, should take a look at this car.
There is even a seven-seat version.
When taking into account the scrappage scheme, you can climb into the ‘normal' 5-seater for £12,495.
That is a lot of car for your money. You can expect it to be totally reliable and it even performs quite well in terms of hanging onto its value.
If you are looking for thrills, then the 370Z Coupe will deliver.
Although not built in the UK and therefore failing to qualify for the special Nissan trade-in deals, the £2,000 scrappage scheme saving brings this car down to £24,900, making it one of the more affordable ‘muscle' cars.
At the other end of the scale, if you want budget motoring, the Pixio is worth considering at a scrappage scheme busting £4,995.
