IT’S stylish, it’s radical and it’s how the future face of Ford will look.

The new Evos fastback concept will herald a new global design language for the next generation of Ford vehicles and is sure to be a star attraction at the upcoming Frankfurt Motor Show.

Evos, with its stunning gullwing doors, has been created as a key part of the One Ford product strategy, and signals a significant transformation of the Blue Oval brand.

The concept shows off the new ‘face of Ford’ by moving the familiar inverted trapezoid grille higher on the front of the vehicle, something apparent on both the upcoming Focus Electric and new Focus ST models.

Under the bonnet is a lithium-ion plug-in hybrid powertrain providing the same next-generation performance and fuel economy as the Ford C-MAX Energi scheduled for introduction in North America in 2012 and Europe in 2013.

Technology is a key element of the Evos. And something they are calling cloud connectivity will analyse a driver’s preferences and driving habits and combine them with additional data from the cloud, such as work schedule and local traffic or weather conditions to make life simpler.

It could automatically play the same music or news programme that was streaming at home, pre-heat or cool the car’s interior or wirelessly communicate with devices so as to close the garage door or switch off lights.

And the new technology can overlay map and weather data sourced from the cloud to adjust engine, steering, suspension and braking systems.

Martin Smith, Ford's executive design director for Europe and Asia Pacific, said: “The overwhelmingly positive response to cars like the Fiesta and Focus gave the design team confidence that our original kinetic design approach resonated with consumers around the world.

“With our new global design DNA, we have retained the same dynamic character, but with a more technical execution and a distinctively premium feel.”
