Every bride wants to look her best on her wedding day - and Rachael Barton from Marske is no different. The fitness instructor and bride-to-be has devised a special 10-week plan especially for women wanting to get in shape for their big day. SARAH DALE finds out more.
THERE will be no Rolls Royce or stretch limo for Rachael Barton's wedding day.
The 34-year-old and her fiance, John Chance, will be jetting off in a helicopter to their reception.
Rachael and John's big day begins in her home town, Marske, with their wedding at St Mark's Church.
Following the ceremony, the couple will be whisked off in a helicopter to their reception in the Lake District, which includes a ceilidh.
"The original idea was to go to the reception in a camper van," says Rachael, a fitness instructor. "John went to university in Belgium and lived in a camper van with his best friend so that's where the idea came from. But it takes two hours to get from Marske to the Lakes and would take even longer in a camper van and then one of his other friends who used to be in the army knew someone who could get a helicopter.
"Because we live on the Headlands the helicopter will be able to land outside our house as well."
The wedding has a chocolate and cream "with a splash of pink" theme. The centrepieces will be glass bowls containing Maltesers decorated with pink roses and the wedding cake will be made up of cup cakes with a top cake adorned with the honeycomb chocolates.
Rachael is having three bridesmaids: Anna, eight, John's daughter from a previous relationship, Donna Curran, 30, her best friend from university, and Hannah, her school friend's five-year-old daughter.
As a bride-to-be herself, Rachael knows the importance to women of looking their best on their big day.
So Rachael, who is also an exercise lecturer at Middlesbrough College, has devised a course suitable for women getting married.
Called Bridal Boot Camp, the 10 week course starts in May and is designed to get summer brides in shape for their weddings.
"The course focuses on the arms, shoulders and upper back, basically the parts of the body which will be on display in a wedding dress," says Rachael, from Marske.
"It is aimed at brides to be but mums and bridesmaids can come along too. Each woman will get a personalised plan which will look at nutrition and lifestyle as well."
The course starts on Tuesday, May 1 from 8pm to 9pm at Marske Leisure Centre. It is due to finish in early July.
"Some people might not want to sign up for 10 weeks, especially if they are getting married in June so I can do a six week course too," adds Rachael.
