She is only 19, but New York-born Scarlett already has 17 films under her belt and has taken the movie world by storm this year with two much-hyped movies out within a week of each other - Lost In Translation and Girl With A Pearl Earring.
She won Best Actress in the BAFTAs and has been nominated for a Golden Globe.
Scarlett, whose claim to fame was as young Grace MacLean in The Horse Whisperer, has another two movies due for release later this year.
We'll see her next in The Perfect Score, then she plays Lady Windermere in A Good Woman. She has just finished filming A Love Song For Bobby Long with John Travolta.
The 5ft 4ins blonde (it's dyed) has a husky voice that often prompts directors to ask if she has a sore throat.
Here's how one writer recently described her: "Her face is simply ginger-peachy: alabaster skin, green eyes and a mouth to die for. It's perfectly pink and pouty, pure sex."
Exercise
She learned how to ride horses when she was 13 for her role in The Horse Whisperer and because she enjoyed it, has carried on riding.
At the moment she is happy with her body and reckons she can burn off any excess calories doing everyday things like walking, cycling, acting - and horse riding.
Diet
She says: "I'm not on any diet but I like eating good, sensible meals.
"Every time I go out and eat good meals, it's a total natural high. You go out for a good chicken dish and you're happy, and afterward, you're still happy. I like that.
"Eating sensibly makes me feel good."
Her favourite sandwich is parsley and chicken. Although she knows smoking isn't good for her, she says it does prevent her from nibbles between meals.
She adds: "I like chocolate, and when the mood takes me I eat it. But I'm no chocoholic!"
Love-life
She has had her fair share of "nothing serious" boyfriends.
"Sexy young men throw themselves at me," she says with a husky laugh.
"I'm 19 so it seems appropriate timing now that I'm becoming a young woman, and am finally comfortable with my sexuality and that sort of thing."
She is reported as saying that she is happily single at the moment, but rumour has it she is dating actor Patrick Wilson, who is 11 years older.
