LIKE many of its surrounding villages, Dinnington has become a developer’s dream, with many old farm buildings now converted into luxury homes.
The area, traditionally associated with mining and agriculture, has grown out of its roots into an ’it’ place for executive living.
Surrounded by countryside on all sides, you can see why. The area is scenic, while also being only a stone’s throw from Newcastle International Airport with its Metro links – making it ideal for commuters.
There are plenty of attractions to living in the area as its buildings reflect its glorious countryside feel.
There are a number of stone-built properties with designs concentrating on stylish gin gans, wooden beamed ceilings and large open-plan spaces.
The traditional white exterior and attractive outdoor seating area of The White Swan pub also highlights the rural feel, along with the Moorey Spot Riding School which can be found in Prestwick Road.
Other pubs and places to eat include The Bay Horse and Masons Arms. There is also a popular social club in the area.
Stars who have lived in the local area include former Big Brother Five star Michelle Bass.
Dinnington itself has a good range of schools for all ages including a first school in Sycamore Avenue.
