Plot 13 had a feelgood factor

May 8 2008

by Karen Overbury, The Journal

Best Apartment

THE awards judges were impressed by the feeling of space and the quality of build of plot 13, a large duplex apartment in the new-build development of Elmfield Square, in Gosforth.

The judges felt that the builders and the architect had achieved a great deal and the overall scheme worked well and had a quality finish and represented good value for an attractive property in a particularly popular residential area.

There was a good feel to the apartment, which had a pleasant outlook over the gardens.

The overall design of the apartment plus the fixtures and fittings were practical and impressive. The developers, Dunelm Homes, went on to win the Best Showhome Interior award for the apartment.

Dunelm sales and marketing director Colin Willetts said after the awards: “Elmfield Square is our flagship development and we’re delighted to have won this prestigious award for it.

“We’ve worked hard to create homes that have a real sense of space and superior build quality and to be recognised for this is fantastic.

“The development itself consists of the highest specification homes which is of paramount importance to us, and in today’s current market enables us to stay ahead of the competition. Winning this award is something that the whole company has worked for and can be proud of.”

Runners up

Atlas Properties North East: Angerstein Court, Broomside Lane, Belmont, Durham.

A QUALITY apartment in an impressive location was the verdict from the judges on the two-bedroom apartments at Angerstein Court. The properties had an original feel and the interior space was well thought-out and had a good feeling of light and space and an attractive solid feel. Fixtures and fittings, such as in the bathroom and kitchen, were of a high quality and very useable.

Parian Developments: Duplex Apartment, Cockerton Green Mews, Cockerton, Darlington.

THE judges felt that the developers had worked hard to ensure that the modern apartments at Cockerton Green Mews blended in well into the mature landscape, with a good softening of the impact of the development. The properties, which enjoy good outlooks, had a good feeling of space and were well designed with good consideration given to the requirements of the buyer.
