NOTHING says masculine style quite like an apartment. Men are renowned for their simple approach and neutral colour choices and when combined with some stunning, structural furniture can look amazing.
You don’t need a penthouse to make your home into a show-stopper. Take inspiration from architecture and follow some simple rules then you can’t go wrong.
Stick to a calming colour palette using shades such as cream, brown, grey and black. Opt for good-quality furniture as in a simple room-set the furniture has to speak for itself.
Look to the buildings around you and take ideas from boutique hotels for ideas on colour schemes and textures for interiors.
To add in a little pattern go for wallpaper in a bold geometric print but keep this to one wall so as not to ruin the simple look we’re aiming for.
The Le Corbusier range is the ideal starting point. I love the structured black sofa in soft leather. And for a stylish bedroom you can’t go wrong with the Eros range. Both are available from your local Barker and Stonehouse store or www.barkerandstonehouse.co.uk
In terms of accessories opt for the unusual. Display your everyday items as interesting objects. I love my collection of coffee table books and think they look beautiful on the shelves in my home.
If you have a collection of things that make you smile, whether it be photographs, posters or comics, then display them in your home too.
Any bare walls can be spruced up with the addition of some funky artwork. Try to find prints which will add a little colour to the room. Alternatively if artwork isn’t your thing frame some classic movie posters and hang these instead.
