WE’VE been denying ourselves a little glamour for far too long now.
As everyone has been tightening their belts in recent times, it means we’ve forgone luxury and made do, rather than treating ourselves to the things we would like.
But as we make our trend predictions for the autumn and winter months we always turn to deeper colours and thicker fabrics as we cocoon ourselves away, and this year is no different.
Obviously there is still plenty of summer still to enjoy so I’d recommend treating yourself to a few new items of furniture and accessories, saving the painting until the cooler weather starts to arrive.
This time around the glamour look is slightly more masculine than last year when the effect was girlie with stark undertones brought out by putting our luxurious furniture against harsh backgrounds of grey.
To get it right think tailoring and sartorial style to achieve the look. Imagine you are trying to create a luxurious hotel room and you won’t go far wrong. Stick to opulent, heavy fabrics and glossy furniture.
Dark colours such as black and rich gold take over from pinks and greys to make the look more accessible to men who want a little luxury too.
The ideal sofa would be something like the Amalfi sofa from Barker and Stonehouse (www.barkerandstonehouse. co.uk) which is a beautiful gold colour and has plenty of cushions to give it that luxurious, yet comfortable edge.
Combine this with dark walls and rich glossy furniture such as the Irina coffee table or the Joia display unit.
To show this room off to its best advantage you’ll need a cream carpet or dark wood floor. For glamour this is the look to start gravitating to.
