Complimenting their sleek wood units from The Kitchen Centre at Kingston Park are quirky accessories such as vintage plaques from Rutherfords in Morpeth and Wooly Blue in Jesmond as well as an oversized clock from The Newgate Clock Company. Janet also loves Emma Bridgewater crockery and has created a pretty shelving display.Off the spacious kitchen is an elegant dining room featuring a Barker & Stonehouse table teamed with covered cane chairs. A classic Romo wallpaper in the alcoves, ornate mirror and occasional chair in Osborne & Little fabric make this a beautiful room for entertaining.
The pair have also extended their conservatory, which adjoins the dining room, giving it a proper roof to create a larger garden room. In here the Petinis have opted for their own best-selling Lofa sofas but plan to change to a corner unit soon.
There’s also a separate lounge decorated in the latest shades of plums and greys. "I love this room because it gets a lot of sun," says Janet. "It’s nice and bright and warm."
Upstairs are four bedrooms and two bathrooms. Off the master, which has a black, silver and grey theme, is a gorgeous en suite by Domani Bathrooms of Whitley Bay. It features twin basins and a large walk-in shower with rainforest showerhead. Delcor sofas, chairs and headboards have been handcrafted in Northumberland for 43 years and are a favourite with interior designers.
They can be made in any size with over 10,000 fabric options from designers such as Sanderson, Romo, Anna French, Villa Nova, Osborne & Little, Ralph Lauren, Linwood and Designers Guild. They also offer a re-upholstery service, but only on Delcor furniture.
Says Janet: "Things come in and out of fashion but we have particular classic designs that are always around. The good thing is you can choose to reupholster it to make it as contemporary or as traditional as you want. "
