To John Howes,
Hi John, I remember the Plaza ballroom very well but my greatest pleasure was going to the Plaza skating rink as teenagers.
What is very vivid in my memory, is , when we got off the bus from wallsend, we put our skates on and skated all the way down to the Plaza, I can still hear the click click as our skates went over the cracks in the foot paths. I can still ( vaguelly remember the talent also Hmm?

Abi from Brisbane. I moved from NE England to Perth 2yrs ago. You would be best to live south of Newcastle if at Durham Uni. Just been back for a visit petrol around $2.40 a litre but food clothing cheaper than here. Jobs in IT around $60K a year but check out Evening Chronicle job pages on Thursdays. Newcastle, Durham, York, Edinburgh all on the doorstep. Beautiful cities. Go for it. Good luck.

For Stephen Lumsley of Gateshead. I am originally from Gateshead and my husband is from Ryton. Moved to Perth 2yrs ago and love it here. It is a friendly, clean, modern city with a great climate. Only thing we find cheaper than the UK though is petrol although thats on the up.I would advise you to visit if possible before you make the big move. Its a great lifestyle here but not for everyone. Good luck.

Hello,
I'm hoping someone can help me, and particularly those who have lived in both Newcastle and Australia. I'm an Aussie (but both my parents are from London) and I've been offered a scholarship at Durham University. My partner and I are therefore considering moving to Newcastle to live. I have a few questions that I really hope you can help me with:
1) How does the standard of living compare to major Australian cities, and how affordable is it? My scholarship would pay 13,000 GBP per year, but my partner would be earning quite a bit more, which brings me to my next question...
2) Are there many jobs in marketing/communications/web and IT management available? If so, how well (or not) do they pay? (This is my partner's area.)
3) We love the theatre, films and
remember the good old
days in north shields.

plaza ballroom

st.peters dance in balkwell

When I was a child in the 50's, my Mother made spring medicine, she said it cleaned your blood, after drinking it your skin was beautiful. Has anyone got the recipe, I believe its an old irish remedy.
Hi Geordies.
Moved to Australia three years ago and miss Newcastle and the lovely people but very happy in Oz. Looking to catch up with old friends and hear from people who used to go to St Cuthberts primary in North Kenton or Sacred Heart in Fenham. Friends say UK has changed. Is that so?
just want to know if anyone out there canremember me , i went yo St Joseph,s school left 1949 , lived in Woodland crescent ggot married in 53 and moved to Evelyn Gardens , then moved to North Kenton in66 then came to Canada in 68 .
We are considering a move back to Geordieland after migrating to Perth 10 months ago. Basically the deception of the skills demand and work available has led us to the decision to return. Has anyone out there moved back from OZ to UK and can give us any advice/tips for a return? Thanks
