Manchester United cause flight prices to soar

Flights to Rome from the UK have soared in price after Manchester United sealed their place in the Champions League Final at the Stadio Olimpico on May 27th.

High demand from fans wanting to watch their team in the final have seen prices increase from around £145 to £800 for a return trip.

Online flight operator Skyscanner.net saw site traffic rise by a staggering 400% as soon as the first goal hit the back of the net at 19:50 on Tuesday evening.

Rome hotel searches also saw a rise by 112% and while travel expert Bob Atkinson predicts the supply of hotel room should be there due to a decrease in City Break bookings, prices will rise quickly.

Some companies charter planes especially for the cup final and sell seats with a 1 or 2 night hotel package deal, however these are expected to sell out quickly and many fans will be left paying a huge price to see their team in Rome.

Manchester United beat Arsenal in Tuesday’s semi-final and will face Barcelona in the final.
