Holidaymakers from the North East are getting more adventurous according to a new survey, which found that one in 10 want adventure and action rather than relaxation. Nationally, women are the most adventurous with nearly one in four craving some form of action when on holiday, with the most adventurous travellers coming from Wales, London and the East of England. When asked what they would do to add some spice to their holiday the top response was trying a new adrenalin activity such as storm chasing or diving with sharks. One in 10 respondents said they would take a naturist holiday while six per cent voted to meet someone new through, for example a speed dating holiday. Five per cent opted for a tour of lap dancing bars. Richard Game, chief operating officer of Carrentals.co.uk, said: "A growing number of holidaymakers are no longer happy to spend two weeks lying on the beach. "With longer working hours holiday time is increasingly precious, meaning that people want to make the most of their time away. "The survey looked at a range of activities to add some adventure to the holiday - some educational, others fun - but there was a clear message that holidaymakers from the North East are very open to new ideas for their holiday. " While there will always be a love of the beach holiday, there appears to be a growing demand for something different for people to try." Holidaymakers from the North East are most up for trying diving with sharks, while those from Yorkshire and Lincolnshire are most likely to take a naturist holiday. When respondents were asked what they would consider doing to add more excitement or adventure to their lives, 23pc said they would move abroad and 3pc said they would have an affair ! |
