CHILDREN and teachers at a North East first school celebrated an outstanding Ofsted report by staging a all-singing, all-dancing show at Alnwick Playhouse.
Ellington First School, near Morpeth, Northumberland, received the highest marks possible following its latest Government inspection.
The inspectors judged the school as outstanding in every category and referred to it as “a very special place with an amazing community spirit” in their report.
Headteacher Kevin Vardy said: “I am absolutely delighted with this report and I would like to thank the staff, pupils, parents, governors and members of the community who have all contributed to our continued success.
“We had an excellent Ofsted report in June 2003. To not only maintain but to improve on that is a phenomenal achievement about which everyone associated with the school is justifiably proud.”
Chairman of governors Simon Allan added: “This is a fantastic report that reflects the dedication of the headteacher, teaching staff, support staff and parents of Ellington First School.
“I would also like to say a big thank you to all the children of Ellington for working so hard in achieving this result. I have always known Ellington to be an outstanding school and we now have formal recognition from the Ofsted inspection team.”
