STRONG armed executives from King Sturge Property Consultancy in Newcastle, have won second place in the annual Allcomers rowing regatta in the city of Durham for the second year running. The rowing competition, organised by Durham Amateur Rowing Club, was the 28th Allcomers Regatta on the River Wear in the city. The competition attracted would-be rowers from businesses and organisations throughout the region, with a total of 18 teams entering the race, including six women’s teams and a dozen men’s teams. The King Sturge team was headed up by Jonathan Sykes, Partner in Charge of King Sturge’s Newcastle office. They were given a boat, a cox and only four short practice sessions in order to compete in the race. They faced stiff competition from Langley Moor geological and environmental firm, Sirius, who took first place, but they hope to return next year to win the race. Richard Farrey, Senior Associate at King Sturge said: “Fortunately the heavy rain held off until the afternoon and the event attracted a good crowd of spectators as well as a good number of participants. “ The King Sturge team have enjoyed taking part in the regatta for the last two years and we intend to return next year for what we hope will be our third time lucky.” Proceeds raised form the event goes to the Durham Amateur Rowing Club, who have been raising money to build a new club and boathouse. |
