COMPUTER experts at Croft Technology have swapped their PCs for mountain bikes to take on the taxing Coast-to-Coast bike ride, in aid of the NSPCC. The team of nine from Croft took on the trip from Whitehaven in Cumbria to Tynemouth to support the NSPCC’s Big Bike Ride event and raised £3,000 for the children’s charity. The IT firm is a long-standing supporter of the NSPCC in Newcastle, and during the past five years has helped raise more than £50,000, which has helped support vital services for vulnerable children and young people across the region. NSPCC special events manager Dennis Clark said: “The employees at Croft Technology are always going out of their way to support the NSPCC and this coast-to-coast bike ride was no exception. “I want to thank them for their continuing support and congratulate them for completing the ride through bad weather and broken chains. “Every penny raised makes it possible for us to continue our vital work with some of the most vulnerable children and young people in our society.” Croft Technology managing director Phil Renton said: “All the staff at Croft Technology are dedicated to supporting the NSPCC and the fantastic work they do. “We had a great time on the Coast-to-Coast bike ride, even though we had five punctures, a snapped chain and numerous pairs of aching legs. “I hope our achievement will encourage other companies across the North-East to get involved and raise much needed money to help the NSPCC end cruelty to children.” To order your free information pack, which is full of advice and handy cycling tips, log on to www.nspcc.org.uk/bigbikeride, or call the Big Bike Ride hotline: 08451 303 073. |
