Dickinson Dees maintains its commitment to the charities area with the recruitment of the well-respected Ros Harwood from Rollits in York to head the practice. A successful and diverse practice encompasses the spheres of education, health, environment and sport. Significant instructions in 2005 included advising the Department of Education and Skills on strategic issues relating to academies, and advising on the incorporation of the Newcastle upon Tyne Royal Grammar School. The firm was also, notably, appointed to The Arts Council legal panel to advise on charity law matters, and another key client is The National Trust, all of whose external legal work in the North-East is handled by the firm. Clients rate Elizabeth MacRobert at Ward Hadaway very highly, praising her very quick response times and `high-quality work with excellent attention to detail'. The team regularly advises on the establishment and management of charities, and in 2005 established a number of new charities in the education and animal welfare sectors.
