 One of the region's leading management training companies has shown that when it comes to professional training, the North-East leads the way. International organisations led by Nato and the EU have been rebuilding Bosnia after the war more than 10 years ago. Now that state functions are being handed back to the Bosnian people, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) was keen to ensure that managers in one of the most important offices, the Central Criminal Court, had the necessary skills to discharge their duties effectively. In the face of stiff competition, FTC Kaplan Business School was awarded the project. Keith Atkinson, the management programmes manager, has been traveling to Sarajevo delivering a programme of professional Chartered Management Institute qualifications to senior managers. "This is a real achievement," he said. "We had to beat off international competition to be awarded this prestigious project. It shows that the level of management expertise we achieve with our Newcastle students is recognised as a match for the best from anywhere in the world, and that our professional qualifications don't just enhance a manager's career in the UK, they are internationally recognised too."
