Established in 1808, Ushaw College near Durham rests undisturbed within 30 acres of historic gardens and parklands and offers the ideal retreat from the rush of everyday life.

Since its opening nearly 200 years ago, Ushaw's primary purpose has been the formation of Roman Catholic priests for the North of England.

Whilst it still maintains this tradition, it now house a very successful conference centre available for use by all types of groups throughout the year.

The conference centre is located in the original college buildings where spectacular architecture and original features still prevail. The special attraction of Ushaw College Conference Centre is that it has thoroughly modern facilities in a beautiful historic setting.

The conference centre is available for hire on a residential or daily basis to local, national and international clients. It provides several conference rooms, each offering a wide range of facilities, from standard teaching aids such as TV, video/DVD and OHP through to video projection, hearing loop and translation facilities.

Whether you are booking for groups of five or 250, Ushaw College can accommodate your request with ease.

Its conference rooms are spacious and offer a range of set-up styles from lounge through to theatre, boardroom and classroom.

The centre contains 130 bedrooms, both single and twin, with a choice of en suite or standard facilities. Just four miles from Durham City Centre and within easy travelling distance of other local attractions, the conference centre is in a perfect location for guests to explore the North-East.

Kathryn Alderson, sales and marketing assistant for the college said: "Visitors appreciate the facilities themselves but also the sense of space, tranquillity and detachment offered by the setting. We often hear appreciation of our ethos, the service offered by our staff and the free car parking.

"Our staff pride themselves on a high level of service and will assist in any way they can to ensure that your visit is relaxed and enjoyable."
