A PARTNERSHIP between Mansell and North Star Housing Group is continuing with the start of two new residential developments in the North. The two projects developed for Endeavour Housing Association, part of the North Star Group, are worth more than £2.6m and both involve supported housing for vulnerable members of the community. The project at Danesfield House in Jarrow involves the demolition of an existing building, followed by the construction of 13 apartments and two bungalows, while in Lake Road in Houghton a new women’s refuge will encompass 12 individual apartments. North Star Housing Group development director Ray Gibson said: “We are very pleased to be continuing our strong relationship with Mansell, which has already seen projects completed in South Shields, Stockton and Consett. “Our buildings have exacting demands placed upon them, providing vital accommodation for residents, so the highest standards of construction must be maintained.” Both projects will be overseen by Ian Wardlaw, an expert with more than 30 years’ experience in the planning and construction of social housing developments. He recently joined Mansell’s North-East division in Gateshead as a senior contracts manager. North Star Housing Group is one of the region’s leading providers of affordable housing with more than 2,500 homes in the North-East and North Yorkshire. |
