VIEWERS can once more make their mind up to chose Britain’s entry in the Eurovision Song Contest. The BBC have six songs for the public to chose from to take part in the contest in Belgrade. Next month’s Eurovision – Your Decision will see Terry Wogan and Claudia Winkleman present two shows to select the entry. Terry said: “A turkey is one of the contenders for this year’s Irish entry. “For the past few years, we’ve been picking a turkey for the UK. “Let’s hope that the British public will make the right decision this year and give the UK’s entry a fighting chance in Belgrade.” Claudia Winkleman said: “Standing next to Terry in a floor-length sequin lime green outfit will top the evening for me. “Plus if we can choose a great act and then win in Belgrade then even better.” The six acts viewers can pick from include a mix of solo artists and bands. They include former X Factor finalist Andy Abraham with his own song Even If. He believes the ballad is catchy, memorable, and cool enough to be a winner. He said: “It’s a real crowd pleaser. They’ll love the song and they’ll love the performance and most of all they'll believe like I do the song is the best to represent our nation in the Eurovision.” Not if Michelle Gayle has her way. The established performer, nominated for three previous Brit awards, has also written a special song she hopes will tap into the international feel of the contest. She said: “I thought it would be a good opportunity to write a song with Eurovision in mind. “I hate the fact that we keep getting bad results in the final so I wanted to make a catchy song that the other countries would vote for. “It’s about falling for someone that can’t speak English and I’m trying to make him understand the way that he makes me feel.” Other contenders are reality talent show hopefuls Rob McVeigh and Simona Armstrong who won fans trying out for roles as Joseph and Maria in Andrew Lloyd Webber musicals. Lively pop duo LoveShy and soulful motown sensations The Revelations are also taking part. V EUROVISION — YOUR DECISION will be shown on BBC next month. |
