SUMMERTIME brings the opportunity to travel a bit further afield for culinary kicks, and eating at The Alnwick Garden is a delicious experience. You can choose from the quirky interiors of The Treehouse or The Pavilion and Visitor Centre’s light and contemporary spaces.

Visit The Treehouse for treetop dining, with menus inspired by local produce served to your table. The lunch menu includes open Northumbrian steak sandwich with fat chips, roast tomatoes and fried onions and Seahouses smoked salmon with a warm horseradish drop scone.

The Treehouse offers a value-for-money early bird menu from Monday to Friday between 4pm and 6pm of two courses for £12 and three courses for £15.

The menu includes organic salmon and potato cake with sun-blushed tomato salad, lime and tarragon mayonnaise.

From Wednesdays to Saturdays, an ever-changing à la carte menu is served from 6pm, featuring dishes like vodka and thyme risotto with fresh asparagus and grilled cherry vine tomatoes and pan-fried loin of venison with buttered mash, peppercorn jus and Drambuie apples.

Desserts are a real treat with delights like dark chocolate tart, caramelised oranges and white chocolate ganche. Call (01665) 511 852 to book.

The Pavilion’s self service space overlooks The Garden’s landscapes, and tables spill on to the terraces. Morning teas and coffees are served in The Pavilion until 11.30am, followed by lunch with a selection of hot dishes, salad, sandwiches and soup to choose from. From 3pm The Pavilion serves delicious afternoon teas, with selection of cakes, scones and biscuits.
