Swing night A Reay

Jun 6 2006

By The Evening Chronicle

There are no songs like the old songs and certainly we are seeing a revival of the swing songs of the 40s 50s and 60s through stars such as Michael Buble and more recently Peter Grant.

Our own local songstress Anna Reay is really getting into the swing of things and is bringing together seven of the North East's finest musicians to celebrate some of the greatest songs of those generations, in a show to be performed at Gateshead's Caedmon Hall, on July 14. Her show will be highly influenced by singers such as Ella Fitzgerald, Nina Simone, Minnie Ripperton, and Ray Charles, but will also include contrasting styles such as songs from Sarah Brightman.

Anna started up her business as a singer two years ago with support from the Prince's Trust. Her business has gone from strength to strength and she has performed with her band and in cabaret throughout the country, Europe and on the cruise ships. In addition to her cabaret work she has own function band specialising in private functions and corporate events.

The show is something completely different and a fitting way to celebrate the 30th Birthday of the Prince's Trust and Anna's continued success.

Tickets are available from Caedmon Hall, Gateshead 0191 4338420 or www.annareay.co.uk
