Equine stars are on show in England, Ireland and France next weekend as the autumn racing programme moves into top gear. John Gosden's speedster Oasis Dream gallops into Haydock Park for the Stanley Leisure Sprint Cup on Saturday following his runaway success in the Victor Chandler Nunthorpe Stakes. The three-year-old colt blitzed his way to Group One glory at York last week having eclipsed Australian ace Choisir in the Darley July Cup. Oasis Dream looks extra special and his trainer is eyeing up the Breeders' Cup Mile at Santa Anita after Haydock. The Merseyside feature may have the look of a one-horse race but that is certainly not the case at Leopardstown where at least three proven Group One performers are on course to clash in the Ireland The Food Island Champion Stakes. Alamshar, winner of the Budweiser Irish Derby and the King George VI And Queen Elizabeth Diamond Stakes, aims to uphold the current Classic generation against the year older High Chaparral, last year's middle-distance star. The five-year-old Falbrav, impressive winner of the Juddmonte International at York, may also run while Godolphin's Moon Ballad, winner of the Dubai World Cup, is a probable starter in the mile-and-a-half contest. The following day, milers take centre stage in the Prix du Moulin at Longchamp with British raiders Soviet Song and Where Or When are lined up for the French Group One event. Kempton next Saturday features two Group Three races, the September Stakes and the Sirenia Stakes. |
