NEWCASTLE Diamonds have confirmed that their teenager Jonas Raun is out for the rest of the year after breaking his right ankle in two places as well as his right hand when crashing during Sunday’s Premier League win at home to Somerset.
Raun’s expected to spend a couple more days in hospital before heading home to Denmark.
Diamonds skipper Christian Henry is seeking more medical advice about his recent knee injury before deciding if he can complete the last few weeks of the season beginning with next Sunday’s trip to Newport.
Meanwhile, Redcar’s James Grieves made a successful head start last night to his team’s hectic week of matches and travelling.
Grieves won the reserves’ heat for Wolverhampton in their Elite League victory at home to Ipswich on his way to the Bears’ action on the Isle of Wight this evening.
Redcar are also at home to Glasgow on Thursday and away to Somerset on Friday in the annual scramble to fit in meetings before the cut-off date on Wednesday, September 26 for both the league play-offs and Young Shield series.
