The Warriors ran the Northern League champions close before going down to a 63rd minute goal from former Great Britain international John Haig at Hillheads last night.
Whitley put the visitors under pressure in the opening session and at 14.18 Peter Zajac beat Fife keeper Blair Daly in a race for the puck to open the score - and 64 seconds later Ryan Sample doubled the lead.
But in the middle session the champions netted three in eight minutes.
Haig scored at 21.28 and three minutes later and Marc McAndrew netted a third on 30 minutes.
Whitley's Ryan Sample equalised at 45.11, but Fife led again a couple of minutes later, courtesy of a Liam Greig drive.
