How we putt the wind up Lisa

Sep 12 2004

By Sunday Sun

Lisa ball played her best golf of the season in the home internationals - after a Sunday Sun Tip from the Tour session.

She couldn't stop England finishing third at Royal Porthcawl. But she was picked for two of the singles.

Lisa beat Scotland's Jenna Wilson 4&2 but lay three down after five aginst ex-Welsh champ Kate Phillips. Lisa single-putted five holes out of six and went to the last one down. She then launched a miracle chip that landed on a target area 18 inches square before breaking almost at right angles 20 feet to the flag, where a one-footer was conceded for the half.

Lisa said: "I was pleased with my putting because it was windy and the greens were undulating.

"I had put in some practice with Kenneth Ferrie and our coach John Harrison at Matfen Hall at a time when they were working on `putting in the wind' for the golf tip spot!"
