Paul Drinkhall has completed his incredible 2004 campaign by claiming yet more prestigious table tennis titles.
The talented Teesside teenager has added to his growing list of international prizes by winning two more in the Portuguese Youth Open, in Tavira.
Paul won the cadet (under-15) boys' singles after a close battle with the leading Danish player Mikkel Hindersson in a ding-dong final.
The Great Britain international won 3-2 after losing the first two games at 11-8 and 11-9. He recovered to win 11-8, 11-7 and then, in the decider, 13-11.
In the semi-final Paul defeated his England team-mate Gavin Evans from Nottingham by three sets to one. Germany's leading cadet, D Stein, was his victim by an emphatic 3-0 margin and it was the same story in the last 16, with S Diaz, of Spain, the victim.
Paul's second title was in the cadet (under-15) boys' team event when he partnered Darius Knight, the National No 2 from Surrey.
The England team beat Spain 3-1 in the last 16, France (second XI) 3-1 in the quarter finals, Denmark 3-2 in the semi final and then the first choice French team 3-1 in the final.
Ormesby Table Tennis Club spokesman Alan Ransome said: "Paul won all his singles matches throughout this team competition and gave further justification of his European and World rankings.
"He's now back home in Loftus for Christmas then early in the New Year he flies to Germany to represent the England Senior team in the European Championships qualification competition.
"Once there he may well be pitched against the world's in-form player, Timo Boll, who has recently won the Polish, German and Austrian Pro Tour Open Championships."
