A SOLITARY Scott Thompson goal allowed Station Ex-Juniors to maintain their excellent start to the season and sit on top of the table. Thompson’s effort was enough to inflict a first defeat of the new campaign on Consett Black Horse and leave the Station with nine points out of nine. After going unbeaten throughout last season, Stanley Royal suffered their second setback in their first three starts when going down 5-4 at home to Burton House. Two goals each from Stephen Poulter and Neil Burn, along with a Stephen Lavery strike, secured the win with two-goal Chris McCabe, Daniel Appleby and Scott Hardy replying. Strikes from Lee Garfoot, Phil Dodds and Paul Castledene produced a 3-1 victory for Steel Club at Chopwell Hotel, who replied through Irving Ruddick. In Division Two, Scotch Arms made it two wins out of three with a 2-1 success over South Moor Ex, thanks to Andrew Baker and Mark Green. Sean Crosbie’s goal earned Chester Whitehills a 1-1 draw with Dipton WMC. Table-topping Beamish and East Stanley hit Stanley RAFA for six, Alan Robinson grabbing a hat-trick and Jim Storey a double. Delves Club are second after their 4-2 trumph at Hamsteels, secured with finishes from Mark Tilley, Craig Humphrey, Mark Toole and Steven Richardson. Jacek Luczak hit a brace for Consett Top Club as they won 3-2 at South Moor Sports.
