Cabbie scoops £500k Lotto

May 13 2003

By The Evening Chronicle

Another lucky cabbie is in the money - after the second big Tyneside Lotto win in less than a month.

The taxi driver from Newcastle won half-a-million pounds in Saturday night's National Lottery Lotto draw.

He is due to collect a cheque for a whopping £553,689 later today and will no doubt be swapping his cab for something a little more flash.

The win comes just three weeks after 58-year-old Bob Frazer scooped more that £14 million in the Lotto Extra, making him the eighth biggest winner of all time.

Bob, from Heaton, hit the headlines when he enjoyed an emotional reunion with his long-lost son, Alan, who he had not seen for 13 years.

Bob, who was driving with Byker Taxis Waterline in Heaton Road, Newcastle, when he picked up his massive prize, said winning the Lotto was a dream come true.
