Teachers and pupils at a Gateshead school, called rapidly improving, in an Ofsted report, have vowed to do even better.
Kingsmeadow Comp-rehensive School, at Dunston, received praise in the report following a five-day inspection by the Office for Standards in Education (Ofsted).
Teachers and pupils at the school, which has 851 pupils aged 11 to 16, both received praise from the 15 strong inspection team.
The school has improved since it was last inspected in 1998, and teaching at the school is, good, and often very good, say inspectors.
The head and his deputy provided good leadership, which promoted higher standards through good teaching.
